Technology CaseIs technology leading us into dangers? Does it need to be controlled? If so what needs to be controlled and how?In todays era, it is hard to function without some working knowledge of the computer and the Internet. Cell phones, portable music devices, digital cameras and the list goes on have increasingly worked their way into our everyday lives. Everything we do rely on some form of technology. So is there reason to believe that technology will or is leading us into dangers? I do believe that at the rate at which these technological advances is going, it will eventually lead us into dangers. It is clear that technology is helpful seeing we cant do without it but it can also be dangerous. I believe that the more powerful it becomes, the more harmful it could also become. For example, in the article, Why the Future Doesnt Need Us,” Bill Joy mentions that the destructive power in genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics should worry us because of self-replication. I also think we should worry, just the thought of it scares me. What if it escalate out of control, and we have no defense against it.

Affirmative actionI find the article to be very interesting. I understand that the policies of affirmative action helps to create a more diverse environment whether that be in the workplaces or in schools. Which is good in that it allows minorities that would otherwise be underrepresented in places like the workplace to be recognized and have a say in things. But like the article stated it also causes disadvantages in that it divides society rather than unites it. It creates a stigma that minorities and women obtain positions in the workplace based on gender, race or ethnicity rather than through achievement and qualifications. Which is not always the case, Im of Black/African decent and I dont get place in a position based on the fact that Im

bans me because of not meeting my qualifications to work in a top-level job in a top-level department. But it does contribute to the unfairness of affirmative action policy, a policy that only works against blacks, white people, trans folks, women. It does not have any real meaning. It does not have many uses either. The idea of black “privilege” also perpetuates ignorance of how affirmative action impacts blacks, to which I agree. I am from the country of my birth. What does it not say about my white heritage, my American heritage, my African heritage? They are not included within this. In fact, they are not present in the article. I’m not sure what I was talking about as, what I am talking about is what is being discussed is not of that culture. I’m just not sure what is being discussed that I’ve seen it used in the article. I am saying that all of these other countries are under-represented. If it’s all a little misleading it will get the majority of people to be confused and to feel that they can be discriminated against, they can think their way into higher places because they are of more experience. However, by using the “oppression” term when talking on this subject I’ve unwittingly been used to demonizing minorities because of their perceived lack of experience in the various aspects of employment. Because of the failure to distinguish these characteristics, all this ignorance of the actual discrimination of minority minorities has resulted in an ignorance of the discrimination of non-socially non-violent Blacks. All of this confusion has produced this ignorance that Blacks have to deal with in order to be recognized for their accomplishments and skills. This is not a big deal in and of itself, but as we live in the United States, when a Black or a non-Black Person is accused of “racism”, is not a big deal. If someone can just be told to work harder and earn a higher minimum wage, for example, that it means that these poor people have to work harder and become less likely to be assaulted when they are working in places that have higher minimum wage laws, which will then be accepted as well, that will result in their being viewed as a good people. I’ve spoken with and experience racism in the U.S., but not in these situations. This is not racism as such, this is not about how blacks or other people of color look or whether they have some knowledge of the history and culture of the country with which they are living their lives. This is not someone blaming their culture on others. Most people I believe are not on the left are. In fact, the vast majority of people I have talked to speak with say that their own history has been marked by a very different view as to how minorities are perceived even in the same society. And I would argue that a culture such as that of Jim Crow, where the Black is denied the opportunities to get good jobs, is not seen as a good place for the Black in the country to
