WHAT IS A JUGGALO?
The rap group ICP (Insane Clown Posse) first began to call themselves juggalos and eventually extended the phrase to include us fans. The song “What is a Juggalo” was the first attempt to define the term. The song is very vague and describes a person who labels himself as insane, who claims he doesnt care much about societys norms, and who boasts that he acts any way he pleases. “He” is used here because females are called Juggalettes.

How did the name get its start? Well ICP made a CD called Carnival of Carnage on it was a song called “The Juggla” during a live performance of the song Violent J looks at the crowed and says “What about you Juggalo? Are there any Juggalos in here?” and the name stuck. Most women in the fanbase call themselves “Juggalettes” Violent j at the artist seminar in 2002 said he does not like the word “Juggalette” because now many people think that the word “Juggalo” only refers to the male fan base; it in fact refers to all fans, male or female. Regardless, some prefer the term “Juggalette” to refer to members of the female fanbase, as evidenced by the “Miss Juggalette” pageant held yearly at the Gathering of the Juggalos. Other names for juggalos are ninja and samurai, Ninja is interchangeable with Juggalo, or “homie”, or friend. And samurai is a term for an old/experienced Juggalo.

Now days everyone labels us as a quote unquote gang but we see each other more as a family. We show respect and love for all our family just like we are blood related. Everyone has everyone elses back no matter what is going on. We keep in contact with everyone all the time no matter where they are in the country, like my brother Chris he lives in California and was at the concert in Louisville to write a review on faygoluvers about ICPs first time back since they were banned in 2001 we talk almost every day just to know what everyone else is up 2 and to share info on psychopathic records. There are only about 5 of us at the school most of the juggalos in the area are either dropouts or they are like 20 and up.

The dark carnival is what we juggalos believe visits you after you die. Its what decides if you go to hells pit of shangra-la (heaven). There are 6 stages which we call joker cards. The first jokers card is the carnival of carnage its the physical extension of the Dark Carnival. The Carnival of Carnage it is what the name would suggest, a traveling mass of social rejects and twisted, angry souls brought to the community that chose to ignore them, wreaking havoc on this community, rather than the ghetto they were trapped in. the second is The Ringmaster is, as his name suggests, the ringleader of the Dark Carnival. He gains his power from sin and hatred; he is made from each individuals sin and hatred. As such, his strength is different for each soul. The third is The Riddlebox is a small jack-in-the-box, adorned with only a metal crank and a question mark painted on the front. Your task is simple: you must turn the crank. If your soul is righteous enough, a Heavenly light comes from the Riddlebox and you may proceed; however, if your soul is too tarnished, the floor drops out from below you and Satan claims you for all Eternity. The forth is The Great Milenko he is a “necromaster”, much like The Ringmaster, he is made from instead your greed. He clouds your mind with evil desires of greed and hate in a last-ditch effort to turn you from the path of righteousness. If you give in, you will be cast down into the Pit. The fifth is The Amazing Jeckel Brothers are twins, born of flame, who juggle your fate. They dance around, tossing flaming, bloody balls which represent a persons various sins. Jack Jeckel is the Wicked, trying to make Jake (the Just) fumble and thus drop a ball. A differing number of balls are added to the fray for each type of sin. If there are too many sins, Jake will fumble and your soul is doomed to Hell. But if he succeeds, your path to Shangri-La is opened. The final jokers card the sixth The Wraith is the final arbiter of justice, though he is not inherently good or evil. He takes you to where your soul belongs, whether it be Shangri-La
