Introduction:
We read part 3 pages 141-155. In this section, Finley has many different points to get a crossed. The first main point is the conflict between the Canadian soldiers and the German sniper. This conflict starts off with the Canadian soldiers playing dead at the bottom of the crater after a gas attack. When Robert thought it was safe to move he notice a German across the crater. The sniper watches all the soldiers every move. When Robert sees the German looking at him he decides to do the exact same thing and just watch his movements. As soon as Robert feels it is safe, he tells the others to move. The reason why he felt it was safe to move is because the German soldier nodded his head saying the cost is clear. This relates back to when Robert is chasing the fox. When the fox goes down the hill to the water, then crosses the water, it turns and howls back at Robert telling him the coast is clear. These to parts have a lot in common. When Roberts’s soldiers were safe beyond the crater, Robert shoots the German. If you turn to page 145 at the bottom and the top of 146 it covers how Robert shot him.

The next point was the German soldiers and the devastating power of the newly innovated flamethrowers. This heavy artillery wiped out most of the Canadian Soldiers. If you turn in your books to page
