Marketing begins with customer needs. Marketing for Cups and Cakes bakery differs from city to city. In the Sea Isle area we are a profit organization. The bakery offers a wide variety of baked goods from donuts, to brownies, to cheesecake, to specialty cakes.Strategic marketing planning is the first step in creating the business. This planning develops and maintains a math between organizations resources and its marketing opportunities. It plans for marketing, production, finance, human resources, and other areas. The planning process includes planning the marketing activities, directing the implementation of the plans, and controlling these plans. One of the best steps to take it to figure out the target market. A target market is a similar group of customers in whom a company wishes to appeal. In Sea Isle NJ, Cups and Cakes bakery is targeting the general public. In specific areas they are targeting couples getting married looking for a wedding cake, a couple expecting a baby for a baby shower cake, or anyone in need of a specialty cake.

The marketing mix can be broken down into four small areas. These are known as the four P’s. With so many variables it is essential that they be categorized into smaller mixes. These mixes are; Product, Place, Promotion, and Price. The first P is product; the bakery’s products are made from scratch every day baked goods. Next is place; location is everything when starting a business. It is key to place a business in a surrounding area of the most potential profit. They are located on the corner of JFK bld. and 40th street in Sea Isle NJ. This area is home to an ice cream shop, Pizza parlor, and local sopping center as well as a bagel shop and Italian market Landis ave in Sea Isle has a lot of through traffic in that area. The summer time is filled with so many tourist and locals as well. Also there is not a lot of competition for the bakery because there is nothing like it around that area. The third P- Promotion- is concerned with telling the target market or others in the channel of distribution about the product. Cups and Cakes bakery uses social media as a way of promotion for their bakery. Social media and the internet is a fast way to get information out to the public quickly. They use things such as “Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest”. They also have their own website that promotes all the baked good they sell in their store. The fourth P- Price- Cups and Cake has good prices for being such a good bakery. They are a popular bakery because of their low prices and great tasting treats. They also offer coupons on their website for some of their baked goods, and they offer free wedding cake tastings. They also offer some discounts on specialty cakes.
