The Bible already address the problem as some Christian would say ” love your neighbor” and “turn the other check” and “resist an evil-doer”. On the other hand, the Bible has never said that Christian can never go to court. In fact, Paul appears more than once working with the legal system, exercising his right to defend himself under Roman law Acts 16:37-40; 18:12-17; 22:15-29; 25:10-22 are just a few examples. The first step would be to confront the professors. Since they are not Christian chances are they would not admit the act. Since they already run the business model without telling Frederick, to confront just means giving them a chance to admit what they have done and make amends. Secondly, if they still deny the act Federick should take the evidence such as the power point, research data, and his friends who had listen to the presentation before come to them and confront them. Thirdly, ask for guidance from the leaderships at the church and receive the wisdoms from fellow believers. Finally, if nothing has changed or still not resolved; in this case going to court might be the right thing to do. For instance, in Romans 13, Paul mentioned that God established legal authorities for the purpose of protecting the innocent, justifying justice, and punishing wrongdoers.

In this case, Fredericks idea is his intellectual property, he has the right to apply for the patent to USPTO since his invention qualified as “useful”- it has been bringing back the profits, and he is the inventor of the invention (Alexandria, 2011). Frederick would have to think about the consequences that he will have to face such as: his professors, reputation of the school as well as himself, and along with the fee for this case. By looking at the situation, in the long run this case will be brought up to federal court, takes at least 400 days to be resolved(Bagley & Savage, 2010, p.104), and pay for basic fee along with additional fees that include a search fee, an examination fee, and issue fee (Alexandria, 2011). However, he can be file under a small entity (an independent inventor, a small business concern or a nonprofit organization), most fees are reduced by half if small entity status is claimed. In addition, according to the book Business for the Glory of God, Grudem states:” Possessions are not evil themselves, and ownership of possessions is not wrong itself”(Grudem, 2003, p. 24). Therefore, Federick can definitely file a suit if he feels like this is what God wants him to do after all prayer, petitions and take a stand to fight what originally was his.
