The Accident
It started out like any other day. I got up, got a shower, and ate breakfast. Everything was going smoothly. I had no clue that around 3pm my day would take a turn for the worse.

I was a week after my eighteenth birthday and my parents decided to take me out to eat and then go get some ice cream. My dad decided he wanted to leave a little early so he could stop by Home Depot to pick something up. My brother decided that he was going to go to church that night, he was lucky he didnt go with us. As we were on our way to Bridgeport my dad said he was going to take a small nap; that was the best thing that he could have done. We were in Bridgeport hill, Home depot was in sight, when all of a sudden a car came out of nowhere and hit the driver side of our car. We were pushed through two other lanes of traffic, but luckily no one else hit us.

Immediately people that saw it happen came up to the car and asked if we were okay. My dad was fine because his body was relaxed, and he got out of the car. The guy couldnt hear me talking or screaming so he asked, “What is hurt?” My dad told me I didnt reply because I blacked out for a minute. The guy then ran and called for help. Suddenly, I came to and started screaming! People started asking, “What is wrong?” I then replied, “My ankle is smashed between my moms seat and the door.” Unfortunately that wasnt all that was wrong with me, but I will tell you that later. Ten minutes passed and the ambulances showed up, one for me and one for my mom. My moms door was so smashed it wouldnt open but mine was able to just enough for someone to come in and take a look at my ankle. The EMTs slowly got my ankle out and then put me on a backboard, strapped me down and sent me to the hospital. Now it took a little more effort to get my mom out since her door was stuck, but eventually they got her out and sent her to the hospital too.

At the hospital my mom and I were in different rooms and going through tons of tests. The doctors gave me morphine for the pain, and I found out I was allergic to it which wasnt fun to go through. I found out that I had a concussion from hitting my head on my window, a sprained back and neck, a fractured ankle, and a cut on my neck from my seatbelt. I had to go through therapy. Now my mom also had a slight concussion, and sprained neck, and a messed up shoulder. The doctors said that if we didnt have our seat belts on my mom might not be here today and I would have been thrown around in the car. So I dont mind having a light scar on my neck, then maybe getting hurt worse.
