Essay Preview: CafrReport this essayThe government entity that our group has decided to work on is Bountiful City. Bountiful City is nestled in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains about 10 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah. The population of this great city in 2004 was 43,323 (this is an estimate that was made by the governors office of budget and planning). Bountiful City was incorporated on December 14, 1892. They use a city manager who oversees the day to day operations, but they also have a mayor and city council. The total size of Bountiful city is roughly 14 square miles. Inside these 14 square miles they have two fire stations which employ 19 full-time firemen and 27 part-time firemen. They also have one police station that employs 34 policemen and officers. Bountiful City also has two high schools; Viewmont High School and Bountiful High School. They have four junior high schools and 10 elementary schools. These 16 schools have over 10,000 students that are attending. As far as recreation goes, they have plenty. They have 19 parks of which 15 have covered picnic areas, 21 tennis courts, 3 soccer fields, 10 ball diamonds, 1 swimming pool, 1 ice rink, 1 18-hole golf course, and an art center. So there is plenty to do here! In all Bountiful City has a total of 448 employees and of those 174 are full-time.

The city of Bountiful had revenues of $16,029,831 in 2004. This revenue came from many different things like: taxes, licenses, permits, intergovernmental, charges for services, fines, interest, and many other things. Some of the major business-type activities for Bountiful City would include: storm water, golf course, recreation, sanitation, and the cemetery. For the year ended June 30, 2004 the net cash flows from operating activities were as follows: storm water had a net cash flows of $357,744, the golf course had a net cash flows of $264,289, recreation had a loss of net cash flows of $295, 871 (I guess not many people are taking advantage of the great recreation this city has to offer.), sanitation had a net cash flow of $250, 017, and the cemetery

The net cash flows for the year ended June 30, 2004 were as follows:

In 2006 taxpayers received about $15.9 million less in the general fund (I figured this was very low and they kept it so they could fund the other budgeting efforts of the city).

In 2004 taxpayers received about $15.9 million less in the general fund (I figured this was very low and they kept it so they could fund the other budgeting efforts of the city).

This sum is compared to the $30.7 million increase in average state and local taxpayers who were able to get their share of the tax cut.

For the year ended June 30, 2004 the U.S. Department of Labor gave out about $12.4 million more in the general fund.

This sum is compared to the $15.9 million increase in average state and local taxpayers who were able to get their share of the tax cut.

The percentage change in their paychecks is still much more conservative than the federal government’s share, giving average U.S. taxpayers 2.7 paychecks per person, which is about 25% less than the U.S. average (not the best for this period!).
