The Book Vinland Sagas is written as two separate documents Graenlendinga (Greenland) Saga and Eiriks (Erik) Saga. Magnus Magnusson purpose of writing this book was to inform his readers of the only history about the Norse settlement in Greenland and Vinland. The book is a short one with two stories and straight to the point. It started off with Erik the Red father dying and those who descended from Erik the Red. He also let us know who all was going to be mention some way, somehow in the duration of the book. It has been said that the book has been written to glorify the exploits of Erik and his Clan. The history of Vinland and the places traveled is believed in theory but not exactly sure of what is fact or fiction.

Without the translations of names, events, and words that would have been understood without a definition, this book would have been difficult to read. Erik the Red and many of his men traveled and discovered many lands in Vinland, also known as North America, that they did not set foot in. These same lands were explored by later descendants of Erik, Eyjolf of Svin Island and Thorbjorn Vifilsson. In the second half, Karlsefni and Gudrid and their men traveled and explored these same lands. As they journeyed, they found Markland and Helluland which had plenty of high quality food. It had different types of fish, land and sea animals, shell fish, grains, vegetables, and different type of wild berries. It was said that there were blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, squash berries, cranberries, hog peanuts, grapes, and huckleberries. Historians, navigators, naturalists, archaeologists, astronomers and others have tried to identify the location of the saga lands from what is written in text.
