In the story “Cathedral” the narrator has a problem connecting with
just about anyone or anything. His main problem is connecting with his
wife in perticular. The man is constantly complaining about
everything. The narrator sounds like he is not the smartest guy, just
by the way he talks about things he is very unsophisticated. He
especially talks about how he does not like strangers or anyone he
does not know. He especially does not like the blind man in the story
as well. The signifigance that the man is blind is that in the
begining of the story the narrator is blind to his own insight on
things as the story progresses he realizes that being blind is not
what he thought it was like all along. The narrator after meeting
robert his wifes friends he realizes that he is blind to his own
insecurtities of himself. The husband was very jelous of the close
relationship robert had with his wife. As the story gets toward the
end after the narrator( i dont think we ever know his name) talks
horribly about the blind man and stereotypes against the blind he
acknowleges that he was wrong about the bling the whole time and sees
