The bird I wish I still knew
When I look off my back porch I have one of the most beautiful views in the state of Texas. It is the place I go whenever I am having any sort of problems in my life. My porch over looks about two hundred acres of all different kinds of trees and wild animals such as deer, rabbits, armadillos, birds and snakes. Sometimes I go out on my back porch to just watch the animals roam around, sometimes I prefer to clear my mind, and sometimes I go out to my porch to work on my school work.

I see all sorts animals especially deer when I look hard enough. From whitetail deer to huge trophy bucks that make me wish it were always deer season. But most of the time as soon as they hear or smell me, they disappear in to the woods. I can remember one time out on my porch, I was working on a school paper, and a beautiful colored bird, to me it looked a rainbow, it flew up and landed about three feet away from me. I wanted to run inside and grab my camera, but I knew that in doing so I would make the small creature scared and it would most likely fly away. So I just sat there and watched the bird look around and enjoy the same view I had been enjoying for years. I noticed that the animal had blood on its left wing, and when I looked closer I was right. There was what looked to me like a small gash in the birds belly. However the bird didn’t seem to be in any sort of danger as it just sat there like a statue watching the jack rabbits flourish threw the woods like a pack of wild dogs. The bird started to act a bit strange, as if it were going in to some kind of shock or something. It stood about as still as child at the playground. I began to worry about this bird, then the bird started as if he were trying to fly away but yet he could not go anywhere. His wound has kept him from flying away. The bird then

began to go slow down and steadily calm down. I stood up and walked towards the bird and when I got closer it was laying there like a rock and did not seem to be awake. I picked up the bird only to realize that it had died.

The outdoors is something I can never get enough of. My favorite thing in the world is to watch the trees blow in the wind and birds and deer and all sorts of animals roam throughout their territory. It is just something that gets me going. It is also one of the only things that can keep me in a good mood through the day.
