Half of Me
Half of me        My life has been full of smiles and frowns, ups and downs, but I would not have it any other way. My life is mine and was given to me to live, enjoy and make the best out of it. Life, it is the one thing everyone must enjoy no matter the obstacles it is giving you.         I did not immigrate to this country from some far land like my parents once did twenty-one years ago. They came to the United States for a better future not only for them but for my siblings and I. I come from a small honest family. They are generous, kind, funny and helpful. Everything someone like me could ask for. I consider my family one of a kind and I am grateful to have them by my side through thick and thin. I believe that Family is the one thing everyone should cherish even if you do not get along.         I am an averaged 17-year-old child of God, full of dreams, and hopes of having a brighter future, hopes of becoming someone helpful to others in life. I am Mayra Garcia, happy and glad to be the oldest of 3. My brother Jose 15 and sister Mariela which is 5. I was born in April 26, 1999 in King City California. I grew up in a small town, Soledad CA, in a yellow old house on Monterey St. Currently I attend Greenfield High school; soon I will be the first in my family to head off to college. Thinking about it might seem a bit scary but I will be brave and strong for the hopes I have to be an inspiration to my brother and sister, for them to continue their studies and give it their all.

Growing up I was a trouble maker, always wined and put on a sad face when I did not get what I wanted. I would take off my pony tails and pig tails on my hair because I did not like them. At the age of 3, I ran from wall to wall bumping into it crashing my head and not crying. I would fall but I would get back up and do it all over again. Sounds weird but I guess it’s what I enjoyed doing. I was always a shy and quiet type of person in school. I have always been a short person. Back then I used to have short hair up to my shoulders, “Dora”, that’s what my cousins would and continue to call me. I was always a happy little girl. I always did what the teacher asked me to do, I was never disrespectful. Student of the month, High honor and honor roll student, always achieving academic goals. Yes, I was that type of student, the type to always turn in all her homework on time, got good grades, was always on task, never misbehaved or got into any trouble; if I did it was only because teachers would complain of me not participating in class because I was a bit shy or not being as loud as others. I am a hardworking, respectful, calm, joyful, intelligent, friendly, and generous person. Even though I sometimes struggle on some events, I have always given it my best to succeed on the struggles. Every time I feel down, I always find a way to cheer myself back up again.         I do not really have many hobbies as others do. But I definitely enjoy reading mystery books or interesting books in my free time. I enjoy watching bar also known as Bay Area Racing, Haggard racing co., Limitless, American Horror story or any other show that I find entertaining. From time to time I will play a few video games or go outdoors and play some sports with my family. Also, I enjoy running at home in the outdoors. I am that type of girl that finds anything with action interesting and fun Although, I really enjoy racing movies. My all time favorite would be all of the Fast and the Furious series. Of course my favorite actor is Paul Walker. Art is my passion I enjoy showing my creativity. I love to draw in pencil and in black or blue ink. I have been drawing since I was 9 years old. It is a skill that runs in my dad’s side of the family.
