Instituting basic reforms such as improving the economy and starting education earlier are crucial in eliminating terrorism in Iraq. By improving the economy less people will turn to terrorism to support their families. Many Iraqi citizens feel like there is no way out of poverty other then smuggling weapons into the country, or other acts of terrorism (The Despair Beneath the Arab Worlds Growing Rage). Also, the United States assisting Iraq in rebuilding their economy could put these nations on better terms. Stimulating the economy will provide more jobs for people, and raise the income of many families. This will make people feel more secure about their lifestyle. They will not be persuaded into supporting a corrupt leader promising to make things better for them if they can support their families on their own. Boosting the economy will only take Iraq so far, the education of its people will take it the rest of the way. Starting education at an early age will help the next generation of Iraqi people be able to form their own opinions. Well educated people do not condone violence or the threat of violence, otherwise known as terrorism. Right now in Iraq 70% of elementary school children are not attending classes regularly (Time Magazine). Instead, those kids are at home learning how to shoot guns, and smuggle weapons. The children are the future. Most of Iraqis population is under the age of 18, so educating this generation is educating the future leaders of Iraq. It may take a few years to completely rid Iraq of terrorism, but with a solid economy and educated people nothing is impossible.
