The West Coast University was one of the biggest university in the U.S.A., with a relatively high number of students (34.700 students). The institution -ordered to offer basic health care and extended health care service to the university citizens and- was called Student Health Service (SHS). According to the datas, more than half of the university population used the SHS to fulfill their medical needs, as well. Specifically, the undergraduate students were required to be registered in the medical plan of SHS.

The SHS offered and owned the following facilities:
– own laboratory
– own pharmacy
– dental service
– HIV testing
– other social services
The payment system:
The main financial source of the medical institution was the one-time registration fee, that students had to pay to get into the medical system. Afterthat, there were 2 main types of services from the financial viewpoint:

A) Services without additional costs:
-office visits
-routine procedures
-some lab tests
-X-rays
-fittnes exams
B) Services with minimal fee (student-friendly prices):
-pharmaceuticals
-immunizations
-more extensive physicals
-more specialised lab tests
Organization of Health Care System at WCU
According to the organizational chart, there were 3 autonomous clinics with a director on the top. All the directors had to report to the SHS Board of Directors. The 3 clinics are:

– Womens Care CliniC (WCC)
– Primary Care Clinic (PCC)
– Specialty Care Clinic (SCC)
