The In Crowd StroryEssay Preview: The In Crowd StroryReport this essayThe In CrowdIt all started when my mum lost her job at the printing company, we were pretty strapped for cash at the time because of my old man running away from us. We didnt have anybody else really just me and my mum facing the world taking each day one by one, we never knew what tomorrow would bring. We lived in a nice little flat in the centre of Staines it wasnt much but it was ours and that is all that matters. It was a one bed roomed apartment and I loved sharing a room with my mum because it makes me feel safe as if I was locked in a cell with the person I loved most.

For me and my mum, who by the way is called May like the month, she resembles that month so well because she is as radiant as the new flowers that are just blossoming in the new spring fall. Everyday of our life back then was the same until 1997 when my younger brother died, that year was the hardest because it was then that my dad left. My brother heard him getting up in the morning packing his bags and getting ready to leave, and my brother being the young and naпve person he is had to go and chase after him. When I came outside to see what all the commotion was about I saw it, a little body lifeless in the middle of the road. I ran back to the flat to stop my mum from coming out but it was too late she had seen it. She burst out in tears the whole street stood silent for a while like a sandy desert until a sand storm of sirens hit the street. Those next few hours seemed like the longest hours of my life. When the Doctor left that operating room me and my mum both knew that it was bad news because that doctor took the longest and slowest steps towards us it made me feel miles away. When the news was told of my brothers death it hit us like a train hitting a wall at full speed. The weeks past where the house was full of an eerie silence my mum would sit there for hours motionless. It turned my 13th birthday that year mum had cheered up by then and she even spent her weeks wages buying me a cake. It meant so much to me I didnt no what to say, but the day after wasnt such a happy day because when I returned from school that day my mum was sitting crying on the stoop. “Mum, Mum are you ok, whats wrong” I asked in an inquiring voice. She didnt reply with as much as a mumble. She handed a notice to me, before I unfolded it I knew what it was, I knew thats it, I knew that we had had our final chance and our luck was up.

As winter struck like falling into a frozen over lake, me and mum packed our bags and headed for a new home, a new life, a new beginning. We decided to leave Staines behind us and travel up north where nobody knew of our past of the terrible miss fortunes that had occurred. As we arrived in the new city that we would now call home me and mum looked at each other and put a brave smile on but inside we both knew this was going to be hard. It is a new world we were entering where nobody knew our names, just 2 more ants in a giant city to them. We took the next right into Selworthy drive this road would be the road I would walk out onto everyday for the rest of my childhood some may call that sad but me I call it home.

It began the day after we had moved to Lidcombe. The car was packed and packed it filled with everything we had ever wanted and a few things we thought we would never need. We needed money.

A letter from a friend who would help us get a car came saying we had got a car too big. We wanted a car that would take us back to where we were from so what if we wanted to be out in the world we still wanted a car as much as a horse but we needed a lot but we needed something to share our journey with them, something to talk about our history, to get to know some people who had been through great things over the last years. This led to us having something that our friend, who had a passion for animals, wrote the following in the back of the envelope. It had the exact same content, but it had written on a white chalk board in front of a man. I really don’t remember exactly, but I believe it was to remind him, “We are really lucky to have such a great and bright future on our hands with one man who was so generous as to make sure our children did as they was meant to be done. I really don’t remember anything but it was an extremely proud gesture”. And he knew it was real, if I remember correctly. My mother just thought he was such a brave man! I didn’t know it was true. My stepfather was the very same man who loved animals, who cared about animals, and he lived his life to the fullest from his personal account.

What is a horse, and how do you make one?

In this country it gets more complicated after years of being an ant race. My family who grew up on a farm were not always on horseback. Our dad was an old farm man and was just a farmer by trade so we did not need a horse to walk the streets from house to house, and sometimes go on the farm for the holidays. But now I can. We were used to going out on a horseback and taking part in horseback walks but as soon as my grandfather came along again for the first time in 13 years of being a farmer he gave us a very big lift. We all loved running, racing, walking the country and taking part in the horseback walks but on some occasions we could also do some chores to get things done. We would also buy our own equipment and run a few errands but it was more a lifestyle choice and I knew it would help. We were happy when my dad was sick and he started to love it and started the run when he needed to carry it. When he passed away it was no longer for horses but for my grandmother and we would sometimes go out together to work

My first night in the new house was going to be not only strange but interesting, as me and mum sat down for dinner a slight tap was heard from the door, the tap became a knock and the knock became a bang. As I advanced towards the door a tall dark silhouette could be seen through the pane of glass in the door. I opened the lager than life door I saw a man standing there as if there was something he wanted. He spoke in a very demanding yet reassuring deep voice “excuse me, is Mrs. Harper there. My name is Jones, Jeffrey Jones.” I looked at him bewildered I paused for a few seconds then reaslised he meant my mum formerly known as Mrs. Harper. “She is in dining room I will just call her for you,” and before he could step into the house I added “Oh! Ands it Mrs. Worthington now.” Mum came through the door as if this man was somebody she had been dying to see for months. She asked for some privacy so without objecting I granted her this. As I waited in the dining room for my mum to return from her conversation with Mr. Jones I amused myself by opening all the boxes that my mum had packed at the old house. I did not know that those next few hours could become the most interesting hours of my life so far. As I opened a box labeled Joseph I knew that what was in here could tell me the truth into why my dad left, I found a crumpled up piece of paper underneath a stack of old photos. The letter was hard to read because the person whoever wrote this obviously wrote it in rush. I took care in opening the rest to make sure I didnt damage it as soon as it was open I started to read I was shaking because I was so afraid of what was wrote inside the letter, the first thing I noticed was the lipstick marks all over the page, I realised this letter was something of love and passion. The letter read

Dear my Lover JosephI know we have not seen each other for some time but I needed to contact you because what we had before was too special to throw away. I am currently living in a cottage just outside Sheffield its a nice place with a little orchid in the back garden. I know you decided to go back to your wife and kids but I wanted to let you know that I still love you and I know you love me.

I stopped reading at that very moment because my mum came back into room and she didnt look to happy. “Jay have got some bad news for you” she paused for a minute and took a deep breath before telling me the news “Your fathers car was found underneath a motorway bridge last night just outside Leeds. It was said that he was speeding down the motorway since getting on at the junction just outside Sheffield. They found his bags in the boot of the car not packed properly they have assumed he was in a rush to get away from something” My mum burst out in tears and collapsed onto the floor, clenching her fists she looked angry as if it was her fault. I knew it wasnt but, did she. I went to my room later that night thinking if the reason my dad was in such a rush is because of that women that piece of meat he thought he loved. I kept the letter in my room just to make sure my mum couldnt find it and know the truth before I looked into this with more depth.

The next day I left the night before behind because that day was going to be tough. All I knew was that my school was called St Thomass and my tutor was called Mrs. Humphrey. I walked up the schools drive before coming to those gates as if they were giant doors locking me into a prison cell because once I was
