April 4, 2018 – The National Park Service was able to secure a federal grant to use an estimated $1 million to create the best golf course in the nation to host the national outdoor community’s annual game. The park also won an award of $500,000 for their contribution to the national outdoor community’s community outreach. This year the $1 million award was received by a group based on the experience of visiting the park and the overall impact the park has had on the outdoor environment, including the conservation and conservation of wildlife habitat along the National Park Service’s West Shore. It was the only time I have known someone who was able to walk through Yellowstone, the only place where walking across the park without getting lost was great for me.

March 31, 2018 – We’re thrilled to announce that Park Service will finally give everyone in the nation an event experience to enjoy without a single parking space on our lawn on April 1st: The Great Park Golf Course.

I’ve visited the Grand Duchy the last two years and I’ve noticed a distinct difference in the quality of golf courses the park has hosted. While others have had great weather conditions, for years we’ve used the Grand Duchy as a winter-time retreat point, or in many cases, the ‘dungeon’; it’s all fine and dandy. (Although it can be difficult or difficult to get from Denver to Las Vegas for the day to day recreation we do in the park.)

This year marked the beginning of an even more ambitious year for Park Service, with the announcement of the completion of four courses, as well as the purchase of a dozen additional to accommodate additional courses. This includes the new Golf Courses, which will replace the already existing Golf Courses in place during the years 2014 and 2015. The main reason Augusta National is the greatest American golf course comes from its natural beginnings. Originally the property the golf course stands on was Fruitland Nurseries. From 1858 until 1918 this company imported many trees and plants from around the world to decorate the landscape. Golfing legend Bobby Jones discovered this land after retiring in 1930 and chose it as the location for his dream golf course. To pay homage to the grounds history, every hole is named for a different plant found on each hole.
