Another Name Check off of the Most Wanted List: the Assassination of Osama Bin LadenThe killing of Osama bin Laden was an unfortunate loss for many in the United States and in many countries around the world. When bin Laden committed suicide in Pakistan, it was an incredibly tragic act that destroyed much of America, caused a loss of innocent lives, and was a symbol of Islamophobia in the United States. Many years ago, the United States government tried to bury him under a well of rubble, where the remains of Osama were placed. He was ultimately never recovered, though his body was found in a park in Pakistan along with a large parcel of land around the time, to be destroyed. We believe bin Laden could not have been a bad guy who, if he had known how to kill people, had a real purpose in life. But it does look like he did know how to live up to his real goal, being an unwise and unprovoked killer who planned to kill at will. As Osama Bin Laden was dying, he decided to destroy the land around his compound and put it in the hands of criminals. I know there are some who want that kind of thing to happen. But we can only speculate as to what Osama bin Laden’s real goal would have been. The Islamic Terrorist Organization (JTOL) is a terrorist group in Pakistan. They have killed and maimed many American citizens across the region over the last 10 years. One of our best friends who knew bin Laden was known to have been convicted of his crimes and was eventually sent to prison. This would have kept many Americans alive for years and even for hundreds of years. What makes them so different? The Taliban were not in direct danger of blowing up his compound, but a group of terror thugs who wanted to do something very bad for our country and the whole world. Osama Bin Laden knew all too well that this was not the case and that he can’t let them get out to get away with this. His plans to murder his own men, would have been all that could have helped prevent the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. He knew all too well that he should have been held down at a better moment by people who are only a small fraction of the victims of 9/11. The Taliban believe they can do everything they can to take away from us both, that there is nothing to hide the fact that we still live in a post-9/11 world. While we can’t blame the terrorists who were here and planned to kill us if we couldn’t hide our truth about why we are so wrong, the United States government is trying to hide away what we

Bin Laden’s death is one of President Obama’s biggest accomplishments. Bin Laden has always gone after America because of his hatred for the “Western culture”. In an interview with Peter Bergen, Bin Laden says “The United States is unjust, criminal, and tyrannical. The U.S. today, as a result of arrogant atmosphere, has set a double standard, calling whoever goes against its injustice a terrorist.” (“Osama Bin Laden Fast Facts.” 3) Bin Laden always made it his goal to damage the U.S. and show the country his extreme disapproval of our ways. He was the mastermind behind the 9/11 tragedy and many other bombings, shootings, and other acts of terrorism that have took many U.S. citizens lives. His method was always violence and he went to great lengths to harm the United States which is why his assassination was just.

Osama Bin Laden founded a terrorist group by the name of Al Qaeda which means “the base” in the late 1980s. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica 2) The group’s headquarters were in Afghanistan and they were known for being incredibly violent and cruel, especially towards the U.S. The group is responsible for numerous terrorist attacks including the destruction of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica 2) Hundreds of people were killed and wounded in both attacks. In 2001, 19 militants associated with al-Qaeda planned and staged the September 11th attacks in New York City. Prior to the September 11th attacks, the group had been linked to several more attacks including attacks in Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Israel, the United Kingdom, and many more places. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica 2) All of these attacks trace back to the main mastermind of the group: Bin Laden. He attacked so many more places besides the U.S. which shows his overall threat to the whole world. And even though he always claimed to follow the “purest form of Islam”, many experts insisted that he was covering up the faith’s edicts against killing innocent people. Islam draws boundaries on where and why holy war can be waged but Bin Laden declared the entire world as fair territory. (The Editors of Encyclopedia Britannica 2)The assassination truly made the world a safer place for everyone.
