Asian PaintsCover LetterWhenever I hear the name Asian Paints, two things comes to my mind. One is “Asian Paints Sharad Shamman”, the famous festival of Bengalis. Another is the time when I choose interior paints for my home using Paint Selector. I relate Asian Paints with colors, full of energy, dynamism, and creativity.From my school days, my hobby is Photography. It gives me a creative space. Here creativity comes when you will see beyond what you expected to see and become more imaginative. I have done my graduation in electrical engineering. Apart from the usual academic learnings, I also volunteered for Fresher’s Welcome and Annual Cultural Fest as a finance convener. While participating in these activities, I led a team to collect funds, allocated resources, supervised stage design, sound, light, food & T-shirt printing. Moreover, in between those activities I inherited team skills and influencing abilities.Then at my graduation, I got a job offer from Accenture, which is an IT job. But I haven’t joined that, instead I joined a Real Estate firm named Rahul Real Estate. No doubt the job at Accenture would be a chance to learn something new, but it had a narrow dimension to work with software only. On the other hand, my one year experience as a project supervisor at the real estate sector challenged me across diverse domains. My job was a combination of complying with the municipality, police, and other government agencies; managing workforce; arbitrating sales; negotiating with vendors & supervising end to end development of the project. So basically my work was cross-functional, negotiation based and dynamic in nature. Here IIM Lucknow with its holistic, and rigorous academic curriculum ensures a confidence and required skills to manage and lead in the global business scenario. With this background if I could be in Asian Paints, I would get a chance to learn through different divisions and perform more than my ability as Asian Paints believes in performance-based management. In the end, I could be able to part of the journey when Asian Paints will be one of the top 5 decorative coatings companies in the world.
