Animal Experimentation
Some people claim that animal experimentation is unethical since it harm and cause pain to the animals. However, others believe that animal testing to be an effective process to produce medicine that cure people from various diseases and to provide secure and safety to them. Animal experimentation is considered to be moral since it minimizes the risks to people. It also enlightens us with different kind of diseases and medicines to cure, and might even benefits animals themselves to overcome certain infection that they are suffering from.

On one hand, the main purpose of animal experimentation is to cure people and provide them with safety than risking their health. Therefore, animal testing is considered more moral to be tested on animals than on human since examining a medicine on humans may have an adverse reaction in their body and put their lives into risk. According to the article “The Ethical of Animal Experimentation”, Hepworth (2010) presents on side of the argument which says that “Animal cannot be considered morally equal to humans… The benefits to humans from animal experimentation outweigh… the harm done to animals”(para.10). These experimentations can lead to the discovery of different medicines that save the lives of many people and minimize the expansion of the diseases. Moreover, most animals do not have cognitive capabilities that humans possess; therefore, humans have greater moral status and priority than the animals. On the other hand, some people believe that animals should not be used in experimentations since they have the same moral status as humans and are entitled to equal treatment. Hepworth (2010) states the opposing side of the argument which states, “[Animals] can feel pain and experience pleasure. Therefore, they should have the same moral status and deserve equal treatment”(para. 3). Animals are not capable of pursuing a specific goal in their lives; therefore, they are not included in the moral community and people are not obliged to grant them all the rights that they possess. Since animals are not given the same rights as humans, it is acceptable to use them for research purposes.
