Amy DrakeENG-105May 31st, 2018Professor Mary Petty                                    My Review of the CHADD WebsiteAs I read through the information provided on the Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) website, my first feeling is one of reassurance. I am greeted with helpful links that give me options to choose from. Depending on the information I am searching for, this website seems to have a clear set up that is user friendly. This website is dedicated to educating the public on ADHD and details pertaining to that disorder. The information that is available at our fingertips is overwhelming to many. How do you know that the information that you are reading is correct? Do you trust the people that are giving you this information? Has this information been modified or updated and if so how long ago? I will answer these questions and review this website. I believe the CHADD website supports accuracy, authority and currency to reassure the readers that the content they are viewing is a trusted source with credible information. When it comes to accuracy, they were specific on their sources and provided information to prove it. This is a membership non-organization and a lot of their information is provided by The National Resource Center for ADHD (NRC), which is funded by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) which is an accredited source. I am able to look up information through the links provided and it was easy to navigate this website.I was able to find the information about this website such as phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the people that run the organization and that are on the board. The authority or qualifications are accessible with many options to choose from. There are doctors and researchers on call to provide data-based information that can be trusted. If I were a parent looking for information about ADHD pertaining to my children, I would trust the credibility of this website. Is the information provided current or is it outdated? That is important for many reasons. If a person is using this website for research purposes then the information provided must be up to date. If the information is not up to date then the research is not accurate. Inaccurate information can be harmful and misleading. The Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder was founded in 1987 in response to the frustration and sense of isolation experienced by parents and their children with ADHD (Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, 2018).
