Todays Society
There are many problems facing society today. I do believe having a weak family is one of the problems facing these problems. I would say this is because there are so many problems in society today. One thing you could look at is the amount of single parents. There have been a lot of young men that have not had a fatherly figure. This has caused some of the to retreat into negativity.

There have been many changes that have occurred since the 1960s. Things you could look at are the increase in single parents home; more two parents households have both parents working, instead of having one stay home all the time. This plays a role because the children spend more time at a daycare with workers. They do not get as much family time. There is also the fact that there are more teenagers having children. This can lead to grandparents raising grandchildren because their child is too young.

Proof of this is in the statistics: “Today, over 80 percent of all women say that they were not virgins when they married compared to less than a 20 percent a generation ago. Extramarital sex has also increased sharply. Back in the 1940s, just eight percent of married women under the age of 25 had committed adultery. Today the estimated figure is 24 percent. Meanwhile, the proportion of children born to unmarried mothers has climbed from just five percent in 1960 to over twenty percent today”. (Mintz)

Families have changed over the years. I would say that I believe that there is weakness in the American family. I would also say that two family homes because of the economy need to be two parent earners. The family can still stay strong this way.

Looking over everything the stability of family life is clearly decreasing. Single parents and multi families are just a fact of life anymore.
With this type of parenting there is an array of outcomes; Psychological effect on both parents and children, the education of the children, teen sex, teen pregnancy substance abuse and unmarried child bearing. The literature associates all this with family structure.

“From 1960 to 1992 the proportion of children in single parent families more than doubled among whites and blacks. Of particular interest from a policy perspective is that the level for whites is now at the level it was for blacks at about the time that Patrick Moynihan was writing about the instability of families among black children. We are on a trajectory in which movement in and out of single parent status is likely to continue”. (Larry Bumpass PhD)

There are some ways I would believe can strengthen a family:
You need to have some time together to state your family appreciation. Make a game night.
Have very good open door type commutation.
