American people dont need to own guns just to have one for their own safety. After a Class discussion on guns in America, and all the news and statistics out there, I dont think that the average American should own or be able to possess any type of firearm. There are few exceptions being Police Officers and other law enforcement individuals. The Constitutions states we have the right to bear arms but that was written well over 200 years ago, and those who wrote and signed it, if they only could see the United States today, Im sure it would have never been written. There are many guns enthusiast out there that abide by this Amendment, and fight many laws that want to be passed banning certain firearms and restricting the number of firearms an individual can own. These people may be very honest and law abiding citizens but, there is just too many people dieing in the United States everyday from all kinds of situations from accidental shootings to kids blowing away there class mates.

Here are a few factsÐ
In a single year more than 3,000 children and teens were killed by gun fire, on top of that 4 to 5 times as many children are wounded by gunfire. (Childrens Defense Fund and National Center for Health Statistics)

In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States. (Centers for Disease Control)
