In a BBC documentary, an island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean, The Vervet monkeys has developed the taste for alcohol. Just 300 hundred years ago the monkeys was sent to St. Kitts from West African. Many of the escaped monkeys needed the taste of alcohol by eating the left over fermented sugar cane in the field. Currently, the Vervet monkeys satisfy their needs by sneaking in local bars for drinks and also have learnt to be sneaky. The Vervet monkeys are being studied for their drinking habits compare to human drinking habits. Just as we love the taste of alcohol the Vervet monkey does too. Some Vervet monkeys will do anything for a cocktail. Like the Vervet monkey, research shows that 12% of humans are steady drinkers and 5% drink to the last drop, which indicate the like of alcohol is in our genes. After a couple days the monkeys started showing signs of other human behaviours. Unlike many humans who are constant drinkers, the Vervet monkey get respect from other monkeys and are better rulers.
