Albert Einstein
Albert EinsteinAlbert Einstein was a German-born physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, among other feats. Albert Einstein was born in Württemberg, Germany in 1879. Einstein attended elementary school at the Leopold Gymnasium in Munich. He developed the first of his groundbreaking theories while working as a clerk in the Swiss patent office in Bern. He worked at the patent office until 1909, when he finally found a full-time academic post at the University of Zurich. In 1913, he arrived at the University of Berlin, where he was made director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Physics.        Albert Einstein was a genius theoretical physicist. He is best known for his mass-energy equivalence, theory of relativity, Brownian motion and photoelectric effect. He was honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921. Einstein travelled widely. In a visit to the United States, he was offered a position at Princeton University. Shortly after his arrival, the Nazis took control of Germany and Einstein never went back. Another cool fact is that he was married to Mileva Maritsch in 1901. They had two sons, but sadly got divorced. Einstein later married his cousin, Elsa Einstein.

Einstein made many contributions to help the world, some are as followed. He totally dismissed the “Old Physics” which believed in an absolute space and time and that the speed of light was relative. He envisaged a universe where the speed of light is absolute and space and time are relative. • Einstein did not believe in the wave theory of light. He focused more on the particle theory of light and believed that light is a collection of particles, not waves. • He also showed us how to calculate the Avogadro’s number and the size of molecules.        One major event during Einstein’s lifetime was the discovery E=MC2. In 1905 he published the paper on mass-energy equivalence, which gave twentieth century’s most famous equation E=MC2. The equation means that small amounts of mass could be converted into huge amounts of energy. It was the basis of development of nuclear power. Albert Einstein published his special theory of relativity in 1905 and in doing so discovered that mass and energy is actually the same thing, with one a tightly compressed manifestation of the other.
