Stranger in the Village
It was a cold morning in the month of July, and I was twelve years old. I had just woken up from my slumber to the smell of food that my mother cooking grits, eggs, biscuits, sausage, and bacon. I walk down stairs and saw my mom.
“Aye!” my mother exclaimed, “Do you want breakfast before you head off to go to school?”
“Yes, mom,” I answered.
“I have it all ready,” mom said.
“Thanks, mom,” I answered.
After breakfast, we left for my new school – Wildwood Middle High School. We drove through the neighborhoods and arrived. I got out of the car and walked up to the school. I went into the office and spoke to the secretary. She gave me a schedule and found someone to show me around the school and where my classes were. I remember feeling nervous, wondering if I would like it here.
