Mergers & AcquisitionsMFIN662201-Fall 2017Course Description:  The course will review the merger & acquisition process from the perspective of buyers and sellers of both private and public companies.  Placing emphasis on the valuation of companies as well as the analysis of non-financial factors, the course will endeavor to provide the participants with a practical approach to analyzing and advising clients on the positive and negative aspects of a M&A transaction.  Additional topics will include understanding the use of leverage, transaction structure, due diligence, and the concept of fairness.   The class will be a combination of lectures and case studies presented in class by the participants.Valuation will be an important component of the class and participants should be familiar with valuation techniques such as discounted cash flow, comparable company, and comparable transaction analysis.If you are a student with a documented disability seeking reasonable accommodations in this course, please contact Kathy Duggan, (617) 552-8093, [email protected], at the Connors Family Learning Center regarding learning disabilities and ADHD, or Paulette Durrett, (617) 552-3470, [email protected], in the Disability Services Office regarding all other types of disabilities, including temporary disabilities.
