Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. He served from 1861 to 1865. He is well known as the president who had to deal with civil war and preserving the Union while abolition slavery. But what do we know about the mans personal life?

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin Country Kentucky. He as the second child of Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. Due to his mothers death of milk sickness Lincoln at the age of nine was take care by his sister Sarah who also died in her twenties when giving birth. This is when Lincoln became very close to his fathers second wife Sarah Bush Johnston. In 1840 Lincoln got engaged to Mary Todd. Mary Todd herself was from a wealthy slave owning family who lived in Kentucky. They cancelled a wedding that was set for january 1, 1841 but later reconsidered and married on November 4, 1842. The Lincolns had a son named Edward Baker Lincoln born in 1843 yet he dies in February 1, 1850, some sources say it might have been of tuberculosis. Another of his sons Willie Lincoln was born December 21, 1850 and dies February 20, 1862. Their fourth son Thomas Lincoln born April 4, 1853 also passed away due to hart failure. The only son Lincoln had that was able to reach adulthood and procreate was Robert Lincoln. The death of his sons had a great impact on Abraham Lincoln until his assassination in 1865.
