Work Hard and Achieve Your GoalsEssay Preview: Work Hard and Achieve Your Goals2 rating(s)Report this essayWork Hard and Achieve Your GoalsMy parents and coaches have always taught me that working hard will pay off in the long run. They have always lectured me about the importance of hard work because, as they put it, hard work will teach me how to be responsible and be successful in life. Since I was a little girl, they have always pushed me to do better than I expect myself to do. That lesson, that my parents taught me, has help me in many events in my life. It also teaches me that work hard and believing in myself will help me achieve any goal I set.

Pair figure skating is a hard sport that requires many hours of practice and dedication. It is also the sport I have been doing since I was 4 year olds. There are many moments in my skating career that I wanted to quit and just give up, especially during training season. During training season we always had to learn new moves that seem impossible for us to do, but the coaches, along with our parents, support us and made sure we remembered that hard work pays off. So, we come to practice everyday, work on a move that seems so far beyond our level for hours, and keep on trying for days even months until we finally lands the move. There are many moments where either I or my partner would just want to quit and never skate ever again. However, as always, our coaches and parents were there to remind us that we can land the move as long as we work hard and put on more times. After weeks or even months of practicing, when you actually land the move that you work so hard on is the greatest feeling in the world. The hours spent working on it just becomes another small obstacle. After 12 years of hard works and dedication, I finally hang my skates in the wall. I am now a retired figure skater. I will never regret figure skating because through skating, it teaches me an important lesson. That lesson is that hard work takes a lot of times and dedication but the end results are always worth it. It also taught me that through hard work I can achieve any goal I set for myself, no matter how impossible or hard it seems at first.

High school is a place where people tend to find themselves. It is also a place where it molds student to be a real person. High school taught me the importance of setting goals and achieving them. Every year I made a goal on what grade I wanted myself to get in each class. After making the goals, I worked hard every day to achieve it. I do all my homework, study for tests or quizzes, and do all in my power to get a good grade. My sophomore year, I took honors geometry; I knew from the beginning of the semester that it is going to be a hard class for me because I have always had trouble with geometry. But, nevertheless, I set my self to get at least a B in the class. I did all my homework in that class; I studied and practiced extra problems that were not assigned. I also went to Math and Science Resource Center everyday during study hall to

tend to spend the rest of the semester at my home, with the help of my high school friend. While I could not tell anybody was there that day, my high school friend, who was also a classmate of my school life, took charge of my final exam and said, “I think I am done.”
