One may classify it as a more glamorous industry, but whatever it is it provides with the  basic requirement called clothes. There are numerous kinds of fibres and other raw materials, which are used to produce cloth. The main objective of the winter internship was to know about the basicsof textiles and the terms that are used in textile industry.Regarding the study of textile fabrics, meaning of the word textile must be made quite clear. The Dictionary states that the word is derived from Latin word ‘texere’ to weave, but a wider meaning ofweaving must be accepted since it is one of the various ways to produce textile fabrics. The initial stage of textile manufacturing involves the sourcing of the raw material. This can be cotton, silk, flax or polyester etc. The fibre is spun into yarn, which then is converted into fabric in a weaving or knittedmill. After dyeing and finishing, the woven or knitted are stitched to convert into garments.1.2 OBJECTIVETo understand the concept of spun yarn production, woven fabric production, dyeing & finishing of a fabric, textile testing and their quality aspects for both technical as well as for commercial purpose.

Our first step was to learn about the profile of the company and their basic dealings, the various stagesof manufacturing processes, the technologies involved, the machinery details. We summarize some of the major concepts that we were to observe and understand during our internship:Concerned AreasSpinningWindingWeavingDyeing & FinishingOverviewTesting and quality controlTexturizingPackagingGarment manufacturingDenim washingGarment finishing1.3 COMPANY PROFILEAarvee Denims and Exports Ltd is a leading global player in the textile industry.
