SUMMARIZE THE CASE
The Corporative Social Responsibility should improve and one example of this was the Volkswagen scandal.
This scandal was discovered in 2015 and it consisted on the manipulation of emission meters by the installation of an informatics system which tied down the emissions just in the test moment and after that it never work so, as we are going to explain deeply in a while, the emission of these cars multiplied till x40 the allowed amount.

All this plot was born because of the want of avoid an engine retouch that would have increased the costs.
It affected to more than 11 million cars around the entire world. These cars were diesel sold between 2008 and 2015 from Volkswagen and its group (Audi, Skoda, Seat, Dukati…) They had to pay 2.800 million dollars of penalty fee.

The most affected models were Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Jetta and the Volkswagen Passat, but they were not the only ones, in fact there are 33 more affected models between Skoda, Audi and Seat.

EXPLAIN ITS RELEVANCE
Nowadays it is very important the environmental commitment and this scandal went against the transparency and the environmental friendly policy.
This issue got international transcendence because of the brand´s importance.
The most important thing in this scandal was the deliberate installation of a program that, as we said before, manipulated the emission meters. This software was connected to the navigation system and recognized when the car was in a test lab so it ran a program that, as we said before, reduce the engine performance.

This scandal caused a round of layoffs and also the resignation of its president, Martin Winterkorn, who also left other charges in automotive joints.
This harmed a lot the image of the brand provoking a fall of the 35% in their shares but also harmed the Germany´s image because Volkswagen is one of the top brands of this country and the german automotive industry has international recognition and it is one of the countries that most promote environmental friendly policies so

What Volkswagen did was absolutely and completely wrong and immoral because they were directly lying to their customers offering them environmental friendly cars
