It takes years of schooling, hard work, dedication, and many hours of countless studying.

The first step in becoming a certified veterinarian is to graduate from high school and pass the General Education Development exam. High School will be the main base of the veterinarian career. It is best to focus on as many science or agricultural courses such as biology, chemistry, zoology and marine biology. These courses will help prepare the student for the college courses and a will help the student better understand the career path of a veterinarian. If the student excels well in these courses, it will reassure that the student is compatible enough to engage in medicine courses. Once the student is sure medicine is the correct path, the student will graduate with bachelors degree in science from any four-year institution.
