Managing Technology and InnovationJaydan HawkIndiana Wesleyan UniversityIn today’s world, technology plays a crucial role in every industry as well as in our personal lives at home. Out of all of the industries that technology plays a crucial role in, healthcare is definitely one of the most important. Without the technological innovations that have occurred over the years, the number of lives lost would be absolutely indefinite (Hilferty, D. J. (2016).Medical technology is a broad field where innovation plays a very important role in improving and sustaining healthcare to billions of people. According to (Muchmore, S., 2016), “areas like biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, information technology, the development of medical devices and equipment, etc. have all made significant contributions to improving the health of people all around the world. Small innovations like adhesive bandages and ankle braces, to larger, more complex technologies like MRI machines, artificial organs transplants, and robotic prosthetic limbs, technology have undoubtedly made an incredible impact on medicine.” In the hospital I work at, Deaconess Gateway, I see every day how healthcare technology innovations have changed our organization in the best ways possible giving us the opportunity to become highly recognized in Indiana. According to (Deaconess Awards and Recognition.), “The Heart Hospital is the regions only acute care hospital dedicated to heart and vascular care. It continues to be a regional leader in heart services by combining an experienced staff with state-of-the-art technology and the latest diagnostic and treatment services. Its unique concept of a “universal bed care model” also provides a safer and more convenient hospital stay where patients receive all levels of care in one room. “We are committed to providing an excellent patient care experience in a unique environment that promotes prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of heart and vascular disease. Receiving HFAP accreditation is an external symbol of our high-quality, patient-centered, organization.” said Becky Malotte, Executive Director and Chief Nursing Officer.” With that being said, the numerous services offered here have opened up countless healthcare career options, such as administrative, nursing, advanced provider, clinical, information technology, patient care support, food services, and professional technical. At home, technology innovations are making an incredible impact on our cost of living. Technology has indefinitely demonetized almost every aspect of life, meaning the ability to take a product or service that was previously expensive and make it substantially cheaper or potentially free. For example, cell phones have demonetized photography, taxis and uber have demonetized transportation, the internet has demonetized countless informational costs, and most importantly at home, and our utilities have been demonetized by technology innovations.
