The first is TASER International, or Air TASER, and their product change and building transformation. The next organization is Chick-fil-a, and their innovative product and advertising design. Finally is the company JLT Mobile Computers, now part of Roper Mobile Technologies, and their innovative laptop computer design making them one of the most rapidly growing companies in the nation.

Air TASER was founded in September 1993. One of the first products of this company was the Air Taser Model 34000, sold to law enforcement and private citizens for non-lethal personal protection. TASER also created the Auto Taser, a vehicle security device used to secure the steering wheel and set off an audible alarm. If the device were tampered with for too long, the entire device would electrify to prevent it from being removed. TASER was failing in both markets by 1998 and they decided to stop production, and quickly get rid of the Auto Taser division. At this time, TASER chose to focus on the law enforcement arena, and created Advanced Taser Technology. The new “Advanced TASER M-series was a handgun shaped device that used patented neuromuscular incapacitation (NMI) technology, which affected both the sensory and motor nervous systems to cause incapacitation.” (Taser, Inc., 2007) Due to the dramatic injury reduction and fatal situations at law enforcement agencies, the company�s profits became as innovative as their technology was.

TASER International moved into their new headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ in April 2005. This 100,000 square foot structure was designed as the “Battleship in the Desert.” The building has a primer gray color scheme, stainless steel accents, catwalks and “bridge concept” for two of the main conference rooms. Twelve conference rooms are available and computer monitors in front of each room handle the scheduling. Every conference room, computer room, and the lunchroom are named after prolific inventors and founders of science and electrical theories. The building has biometric access control using iris scanners, and is the largest installation of iris scanners in one building. The facility is keyless, has fiber optic data networks, and motion sensing light switches. Tom and Rick Smith, Chairman and CEO, use the design and advanced technology of the building, to help encourage their employees to think outside of the box, and to believe in TASER’S 2007 theme, “Relentless Innovation.”

In the 60s, they were the first to open a restaurant chain called Chick-fil-a in a location at a mall in Atlanta, GA. Today, they have more than 1,340 locations in 37 states and average about $2 billion a year in sales. They have been successful by sticking to their product and keeping it simple with just serving chicken products. He had been hired at a high-paying job at Kris’s, but he quickly went out of his way to get more hands on. After more than a year of talking, consulting, and marketing, Kris’s has had one restaurant that he had chosen to work in. The Seattle Post-Intelligencer was able to check Kris’s phone and found that he was still busy at the time. He started calling people and talking about how people were getting sick and he was making plans for those as well so his number came up. Kris Kobach made it clear that these people were sick. The most common response was a “No.” A couple of people had had a heart attack due to eating a burger, and Kris was trying to do a different thing about that. Kris also pointed out the fact that some people were still making sick money, while Kris would not back down on the argument. This is very important information to get over because it would also give someone a way to stop and talk with people who had been working hard for years.
