Davy Crokett Case
Davy Crockett became a champion for the US government to not provide welfare, when a constituent informed him that a vote would not be cast in Crocketts favor. Congress at the time had voted in favor to provide for some families devastated by fire. At a later Crockett used the information from his constituent to tell Congress that they did not have the right to provide charity to anyone with the taxpayer dollars and that if each of the congressmen gave up one weeks pay, there would be sufficient money to help. The details that Davy Crockett put forth should be the basis for todays government to eliminate the welfare system and the Affordable Healthcare Act, as the government does not have the ability to provide charity with taxpayer dollars. If we use the design of the Constitution, then the people will take care of the people and the government will take care of providing for the defense and work toward gaining peace, and eliminating the national debt. While the national debt is not directly linked to welfare or the like, it does take from the discretionary spending and requires certain nondiscretionary payments to be pushed off or borrow more to make the payments. Do not confuse the speech of Davy Crockett as being inhuman or not wanting to help the American people, it is simply the way the Constitution was designed, people should take care of people, not the government. The speech is known as the Tennessee speech to Congress.
