Hunt for Red October
The Hunt for Red October
The Hunt for Red October movie based off the Novel by Tom Clancy was a story of uncertain action, deception, and mystery. The major actors in the film were Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin and Scott Glenn. The style of acting used most often throughout the film is a combination of dramatics and illusion as to leave the viewer with many unanswered questions. The stereotypes in the film include, Singing Russians, a music loving African American, both sides working together, a happy ending, and murder of characters that never reappear. Alec Baldwin fit his role with ease. Being a younger man when the movie was put together he played a very believable caring father and special agent for the CIA. Scott Glenn pulled off his part as the USS Dallas’ commander really tuning into the weathered old general state of mind and lack thereof emotion. Sean Connery was really only there for his name he was an aging balding actor even by this point early on. His acting style is classic Connery and echoes many of his formal roles in previous cinematic endeavors. I think all the actors played there parts well enough. They do bring the characters to life through their already embroidered image from past films. The dialogue was strict and sound staying true to the authors original format. I have seen Sean Connery play this role many times before. The confrontation between Baldwin and Connery was the best delivery in my opinion. Baldwin’s problem with his daughter brings compassion for his kindness. The camera angles in this film are mostly high/low rises and direct interaction, fairly basic concepts. The sounds and scene placement create a vivid atmosphere. The actors in this film did their jobs well.
