The Role of the Museum
Are museums still important in the digital age where people have new possibilities and entertainments? Some people think that museums are of great importance, while others believe they have lost value in the modern world.  As far as I am concerned, it is necessary to maintain the importance of museums. There are many things to be said in favor of this point of view. Firstly, I believe that a museum is a monument of world culture. In the museums we have cultural objects which tell us about old traditions and history of ancestors. If we lose them humanity will be deprived not only past but future. Secondly, people have opportunity to feel special atmosphere of museum, immerse themselves in culture, and just spend time with pleasure. There isn’t place in the whole world where is collected amount of paintings, sculptures, unique objects, which can give us special feelings. Moreover, some museums have interactive exhibitions, which are relevant in the digital age.
On the other hand, there people who are think that museums are not important anymore. They strongly believe that any information can be quickly found at home. They are convinced that digital devices can save amount of time. It means that people can search all important information in the Internet or watch special TV program about museum exhibits. In addition, they think it is more convenient and easier way to receive information.   To my way of thinking, these accusations are not fair. I believe that exhibitions in the museum have a lot of showpieces which can`t be found in the Internet or television. You can see some cultural objects only in the museum, because it is forbidden filming them. Moreover, in the museums people can communicate with ones who know amount of information about cultural objects and who can explain different notions better than internet resources.  All in all, there are two points of view on the problem. People argue about importance of the museum and its place in modern society, but I believe that museums are still needed and people should not forget about it.
