Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening
The poem is about a man who is travelling through a deep and dark forest during winter. He is riding a horse on a way to someones house. In the middle of his journey, he stops and contemplates whether he should continue or not. In the end he says that he has miles to go before he sleeps.

The selection is from Unit 3, which is all about finding ones own space. The poem is fit for this theme because it speaks about the difficulty in having the strength to continue. I think that the poem is trying to depict lifes journey. In Robert Frosts poem, the persona was depicted as having an internal conflict on whether or not he should continue the path he is on. The setting was in a deep and dark forest, which symbolizes the difficulty in finding ones way because there are a lot of obstacles in the way. It was set in winter which represents isolation because finding ones way is a solitary track. Others may guide and help one to continue his path but ultimately, it is the decisions they make and the actions they take that matters. The horse serves as a guide and it is confused why the rider has halted. At the end of the poem the speakers says “But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.” What the author is saying is that in life, we still have our goals in life to achieve and no matter how tempting it is to stay in one place, we still have to continue on before we lay to rest.
