What Makes My Parents SpecialSammy Kimutai CheruiyotKenya Commercial BankNairobiWhat Makes My Parents Special[a]Nairobi[b]Kenya Commercial Bank[c]Sammy Kimutai Cheruiyot[d]What Makes My Parents Special    From the Merriam Webster’s dictionary, parenthood is defined as the state of being a parent (Hansen, 2012). Fundamentally, a parent is a person who has a child, either by birth, adoption or other legal means (Hansen, 2012). The age of the child is not relevant to determining [e][f][g]whether or not a person is a parent; the mere existence of the child is what matters (Hansen, 2012). This paper talks, specifically, about my parents and what makes them so special to me.     First and most importantly, my parents are and will always be special to me because they decided to bring me into this world (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.). They, just like many other adults, got intimate, and [h]I am a byproduct of that indulgent (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.). In the time of my conception, they had a lot of alternatives to avoid bringing me into this world. First, they could have simply decided to use contraceptives to avoid conceiving me (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.). But even if they did that and failed, they still had the option of aborting me and making sure I never see the light of day (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.).My parents chose none of these options; they decided to have me and keep me.    Secondly, I hold my parents in very high esteem because they decided to keep me with them despite the several highs and lows that life threw in their direction. Almost every major town in my country has an orphanage in it (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.). At the first taste of hardship, my mother and father could have simply decided to go dump me in front of one. However, they decided to keep and mold me in to the man I am today. They gave me a good education and ensured I was healthy all through my childhood. I might not have had most of the luxuries the world has to offer, but they made sure that I had what I needed to get to where I am today.

In conclusion, life has not been all smooth for us. But at least we had the life to lead; not everyone is that fortunate (“What makes parents so special,” n.d.). I owe my life and my achievements in it to them. All the difficulties I have gone through are not enough to make me forget all the good they have done me. My parents might not be the best in the world, but they are the only ones who knew how to get me where I am today. Because of that, they will always be very special to me.ReferencesHansen, T. (2012).
