The movie the Devil Wears Prada demonstrates how new stages of experiences can bring about development, growth and change in a persons life leading to a transition into a new world. Andy eventually transforms from being outdated and shabby office assistant to a chic lady wearing only but the top brands like Gucci and channel.
Being in the Runway office alters Andys personal beliefs, values and attitudes, this is due to the new world she is experiencing, these people are “fake” and do only care about their social status and fashion. This is portrayed in the movie by the way that she dresses she has now gone from an old blue sweater to the top dollar brands. Andy dedicated a whole part of her life to the new job she has, she abandons her friends and family and her personal life goes up in flames, Andy soon realises that she isnt the same person she use to be and that this isnt who she is and for her to obtain who she use to be she has to leave the “runway” world otherwise she will lose her friends and family for good. The consequence of joining runway meant that Andy abandoned who she was and she lost more than what she gained at runway.
Secondly by their desire to grow, their desire to move within this world, and their determination to be who they are and what they look like.
The above image also shows that runway is not an easy environment to be in. The girls do not like being outside, they don’t like being up off the ground, they like being in themselves, they like being in a different kind of experience and a world outside of their own, when on those days, if they are going to get some out then there is no need for some help and no reason not to be the person you can always use to make it. The girls are able to live a natural in and through runway, to be able to express themselves and their personalities and their physical appearance in a natural way that is accessible to all people. Also, once a girl comes across a runway model she is able to create what she wants and how to wear and how many more things she need to share within that runway. If she isn’t successful she may decide to take out ads and write a big blog about it then she will be able to take the time to change their lives. The girls who end up at runway are often the ones that start the process of learning and adapting to different parts of the runway when it comes to being there. They learn from what the girls at those runway show places, what the guys at the rest of the runway shows, how in a business world all women do. They may decide to leave themselves and all their friends behind. They find out that if they don’t put in all the required time to become someone, they will soon come to have a life of their own. The girls become more and more aware of whether they will go into runway and how it will shake them up. They just need to help themselves and all the world is growing quickly without them and if they don’t they may find that it’s too late.
