Between the times 211 BCE and 220 BCE the Qin and Han dynasty built thousands of miles of wall along the northern border with the Xiongnu. There is no doubt that building the wall has now impacted the economy, but did the benefits overpower the human cost? Even though the wall was one of the greatest structure built, it was not worth the number of killed people. The cost of building this wall were tribute still had to be paid to the Xiongnu, high death rate, and there were too many sacrifices made by the people. The first reason the costs of building the Great Wall of China was not worth the benefits was, it not being worth the conditions the workers were in and the ways they died.Emperor Qin used peasants, soldiers or anyone he disliked to protect the wall as seen in -Doc E.- . As the text As the text stated in Document E some people died if starvation, some died of the harsh weather, while some just died from working on the wall. Which brings me to the reason of why are people protecting the wall when the wall is supposed to protect them? At this point, this did not have to happen , who knows if the Xiongnu would have attacked at this time period. This is just one of the terrible cost of protecting this wall. Sorry not finished but I wanted to get something in so I dont have to do the whole mthing later and rrestart it
