Francis Galton

Of all the scientist that there are some that have had great influences in our modern knowledge of science. One of this scientist is Francis Galton, he added knowledge to eugenics and gave information by experiments.

Francis Galton was born on February 16, 1822, and Sparkbrook, England. His mothers name was Frances Anne Violetta Darwin and his fathers name was Samuels Tertiuf Galton. His father was a banker and came from a family that contained rich bankers and gunsmith. His father died when he was twenty-one. Galton was the youngest of seven children, three older brothers and three older sisters. He attended small schools. In 1836, he attended King Edwards school. After two years he didnt find emphasis on classics and religion to like. His parents decided for him to follow a medical career. For one year he was an appretience to several different medical men in Birmingham. Later he went to London to study medicine at Kings College for a year. He was educated in Trinity College, Cambridge were he got his degree in mathematics. His career was an African explorer and he was elected Fellow in the Royal Geographic Society. He became an openly anti-Christian.

In 1840, he took a tour of the Middle East visiting Gressen, Vienna, Constanza, Constantinople, Smyrna, and Athenf. Having storted first the pursuit of a medical career he traveled and established himself as an enthusiastic explorer; his explorings were later described as having “a love affair with Africa.” On his expeditions throughout the Middle East and Africa his constant studying of the environment recorded vergous aspects of the land, people, weather and events that surrounded him.

He apposed those who claimed intelligence or character. He inquined into racial different. He was one of the first to employ questionnaire in survey method. He used the method to investigate mental imaginary in different groups of people. He strongly influenced the development of statics particularly his proof for a normal mixture of normal distribution is itself normal.

He discovered that a persons fingerprints were an index of personal identity and went to Scotland Yard to adopt a fingerprint system. He was the first to use the method for data collections. He was the first to demonstrate that Laplace-Gauss distribution or the normal distribution could be applied to human fychological attributes for example, intelligence. He established the first mental testing center which is a person taking a battery of test and receive a written report on the test. In 1865 he began to study heredity.
