In “Bartleby the scrivener” by Herman Melville, there is a scene in this short story where I can easily related to in many ways. When he starts to introduced his employees and pointing out their weak points and strong points, It instantly brought me back to this past summer when I was working at this camp. I was working as the supervisor for the lunch portion of the day. This was my first day and I was given people who were not the “cream of the crop”. I still had a job to do no matter who I got. So after the first week, I began to see their strength and weakness. An good example is a friend that shall remain nameless. This friend of mine had horrible people skills and gave an attitude to my coworkers. Even though he appeared to be a waste of time, he did have good characteristics despite his obvious flaws. He would never insult or behave in a vulgar manner towards the kids that attended the camp. He never talk back to me and he did whatever I asked him to do. That is what instantly made him one of my favorite employees.

Another part in this story that I felt emotionally tied into was the story about Ginger Nut. The love of his father is similar to the love that my parent have for me. They have gone through so much just so I can go to college. I hope that one day I can paid back
