The Beatles still influence Noel and Liam Gallagher a huge amount. Both of them have continued to show the influence of The Beatles outside of their work with Oasis. Liam Gallaghers new band, Beady Eye, have stated that the reason why they chose that band name was so that as part of an alphabetized CD collection, their music would possibly be next to someones collection of The Beatles albums. Also as a charity single, Beady Eye recorded a cover of Beatles song “across the universe”. Liam once claimed to be the reincarnation of John Lennon despite being born eight years before Lennons death, “I think I was him. Hes me now” Noel performed a cover of “Come Together” with Paul McCartney and Paul Weller. Also in 2000, Noel was a guest at the John Lennon tribute show at George Martins AIR studios. Noel was quoted for saying “[The Beatles] Inspire me more now than they did when I was a kid and are still the greatest”. Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The band initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (vocalist and tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitarist), Paul McGuigan (bassist) and Tony McCarrol(drummer). The two brothers shared the role of front man, a concept made popular by The Beatles. They had eight UK number one singles and eight UK number one albums. They also won fifteen NME awards, nine Q awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and six Brit awards. As of 2009, the band have sold an estimation of 70 million records worldwide.
