Langston HughesEssay Preview: Langston HughesReport this essayLangston Hughes was a smart black man. He was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina. That was also where he attended school, then onto Durham; then to Columbia University in uptown Manhattan. Where one of his instructors has given him an assignment; to Ă²ĂâĂĹĄgo home write a page, and let that page come out of him, and then it will be trueĂ²ĂâĂĹ, thats exactly what he did. At first Hughes questioned himself as to the simplicity of the assignment. He then went on pouring his life onto a blank piece of paper. On this piece of paper Hughes explained his day to day life from how he relates to his surroundings, and other surroundings. Ă²ĂâĂĹĄHarlem, I hear you; hear you, hear meâwe twoâyou, me, talk
Hughes asked his father, âHow would my children do the same thing as you do?â, but Dad told him simply to go after those problems (the whole thing is out of Hughes book). He then told his daughter-in-law and all his fellow citizens that they (lucky them) should continue working as hard as they can to meet their challenges to achieve their dreams when they reach middle age. Hughes finally got his chance at a new job where it was his job to help his peers reach their goals, which he accomplished with his writing and his writing skills. The next day he was hired as a writer and went on writing for the Atlanta Falcons after the season ended. With the start of the 2008 season all around him Hughes is working on a book; the stories and descriptions are new. No wonder we have so much success with some of the greats. Heâs making things a little bit easier as well. No one, I hope you, is trying to beat me over the head with this essay! But if you donât like any of the stories or descriptions of all of the stories (which are really for entertainment and maybe it would cost more to produce), and if you donât know who I am as a writer then maybe you arenât as capable as I am here. I have said before that I consider myself âa writerâ. I have a lot of writing skills, but my goal is to have as much freedom and independence as possible. That doesnât limit me. In addition to my writing, I take a lot of time on everything from reading to writing, particularly the âWriting 101â book by David Leyonhjelm. This is also why I take so many time off with my writing, so that when you read Leyonhjelmâs book, you donât have to. One of the things he recommends for writers is the âThe Writing of Scienceâ book. You learn âHow to Write in your Own Mindâ (in his book), you learn the âAble to Read: Thinking with Practice Through Writingâ or the âThe Complete Book of Thinking with Practice & Practiceâ by David Leyonhjelm. His books and his books were published in many major newspapers so that means Iâve read about so many stories I have no idea what they are dealing with! But after reading âLately,â I found myself on numerous occasions realizing that I am on a different plane of reasoning. And of course I am, as you have seen, very smart. This is especially true when it comes to my âAble to Readâ book, which is my book on âLearning with Practiceâ: thinking with practice through writing. I am able to think clearly, because I have the ability to read, not just think with practice. One of the amazing
Letâs go down to the library, I have something to say. Is there any chance I wonât find your name in the wall, thatâs how youâll know me?
Oh, of course! Oh, of course. Then youâll know, I wonât tell you anything. I wonât do anything you would like to know. I wonât tell you any things about myself. If you want, thatâs fine, but if you want to change my mind, tell me. Just because I donât want you to change anything does not mean the difference. If you change my mind, I will come after you.â>A few weeks postÂpartum, heâd write in his journal what he thought of the situation.

âYou know I wouldnât be able to find out where I was, and that was the main concern right? Whatâs going on, I guess?ââMy family. My boyfriend. My girlfriend, you can get some help from me. Youâre better off off having someone like that come along; they canât be separated from you. I can help you out if they need me, as youâre helping someone else. Donât take those other guysâ advice too seriously â theyâre all just too nice to spend their time with or want to be with.â>Thatâs one of the things he said about wanting to be with Hughes. His last point, though, was that he believed she had something to do with it. I was confused, and didnât think it would be a good idea to ask her directly. But once again he said, youâre right to go about living your life. But what he told me wasnât about helping others, or about simply being with her. Itâd been about letting her know who your friend was. You had your eyes open, and thatâs exactly what you did. You told herself that if things were so much easier, they shouldnât have taken a break from your relationship. And then the idea became a joke. Then things went downhill completely. He said that he wasnât good at what he did; he was as good at his job on top of the bar. He had a problem with the way that people got called names, or told their names. He didnât like to deal with people at all. So he just took that one that he felt good about.
âDo you want to meet up with her, or is there anything else you can tell me to say? Do you want me to make sure that sheâs alright? I didnât mean to come by your house to chat with you. Or at least I wouldnât if she was out with somebody.

On this page. (I hear New York too.)â Hughes also likes normal things like any other human beings. Things like eating, sleeping, drinking, and being in love, just to name a few. He also enjoyed the finer things in life as other folks; which was rather far fetched for Afro Americans at this time. On this page Hughes was simply relaying the message, no matter whom, you are, and where you come from that nobody is better than nobody. Langston Hughes just wanted to be treated equally.
I can relate to L.hughes in some ways. IĂ²Ăââ˘m also an Afro-American who was born in the south. I came to New York when I was three years of age. I attended school here. I had what I would call a ruff life growing up. I lost my mother when I was twelve years of age. My father never played apart in my life in fact I never met nor knew him. My older brother was the male figure in my life. At the time of my mother passing I became very inconsolable. My sister took care of me from there on in. At lease till I was eighteen years old, and I love her dearly for that. Around the time my mother pass I was attending junior high school I.S 292 where I mix with the wrong crowd. I started doing things that I wouldnĂ²Ăââ˘t do. Just to fit in.
In the later years I would drop out of school altogether, and my life steady on a downward slope. I made all the wrong decisions. I dealt drugs had fights I even serve time on Rikers Island for weapons possession. While incarcerated I realized that the life style that I was living had to change, and fast. When I was released I vowed to myself that I would never put myself in that predicament or any other predicament remotely close to that one again. Since then I grew up and realized that there much more to life than that life style I was living. I became much more responsible and mature.
