Poverty defined as a poor person whose income level falls below some minimum level and required to meet basic needs of specific societies. This means poverty in Africa is very different than poverty in United Kingdom. As an example, being poor in Africa means you are starving. On the other hand, being poor in United Kingdom means that you cannot afford eating at restaurant. Lack of education in Africa Lack of education in Africa is one of the growing concerns in most of the countries today . This is because most of the African children don t usually attend school . You find that the primary school enrolment in most of the Africa countries is among the lowest in the world . The African girls account for a majority of 40 million and these are only the primary school aged children not counting those at the higher levels of education . These represent a percentage of the young girls in the African countries who are not enrolled in the primary schools . Many of the African countries have neglected the education sector and hence they invest very little in it . When we compare a country like Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe , you find that Zimbabwe only invests 1 of its GDP to education while on the other hand Zimbabwe invests 10 of its GDP in education . It is as a result of these negative attitudes in education which has led to the lack of education in these countries . Research also tells us that in most of these countries , 1 out of every ten children enroll in the primary education , 4 out of every 10 primary aged children do not attend school.
