Selling the product over the internet has become new but very interesting business in 1990th. Jeff Bezos started Amazon.com. Bezos decided to begin selling the five most promising products: compact discs, computer hardware, computer software, videos, and books. Thats how the company started in 1994; already in 1995 the website went life and became the number one book- related site on the Web. One of the main areas were books, which were delivered not from the warehouse like the other booksellers but directly from the publisher. The books were received from the publisher and ships to the customer. Within the month the Amazon was shipping products within 45 states and 50 countries abroad. In 1997 Amazon went public, which was another huge step for the company. Starting 1999 company grew by adding toys and electronics, and music online. They went on European booksellers market, where Bookpage from United Kingdom and Telebook from Germany allowed entering the market for the Amazon, which brought huge market extension to them. Bezos was named a person of the year in 1999 by Time Magazine. Right now Amazon has its own website in the languages of 10 countries: Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Spain and United Kingdom which is pretty big for the company. Sales have been growing pretty dramatic for the Company starting in 2009 from $ 24,509 million, 2010- $ 34,204 million, 2011- $ 48,077 million, 2012- $ 61,093 million and first quarter of 2013 – $ 16,070 million. The number s for the second quarter is not available and will be announced on July 25 on the conference call.
