Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts                                         Cheryl Mohammed RES/351 02/02/16  Arnella TrentA Quantitative Study about descriptive and inferential approaches            Descriptive data is partial in so much that they only allow you to make outlines about the objects or people that have truly measured.  We cannot use the information that been gathered to simplify to other objects or people.  Example, if you tested a drug to beat cancer and it worked in your patients, you cannot claim that it would work in other cancer patients only relying on descriptive statistics (but inferential statistics would give you this opportunity). (Laird 2013)         Inferential statistics rely on the same set of data. However, descriptive statistics entrust solely on this set of data, whereas inferential statistics confides on this data in order to generalize about a larger population.  In first article, a quantitative study. The scenario is: Raj is a member of firm that deals with architectural and is a team player that was in charge for conniving a new hospital.  Once its built and in operation. Raj ‘employer  notifies him that they have a chance to collect and review the data for the hospital that will help the team understand how it will be constructed of the hospital and affects patients, Hospital staff, family members and others. His boss asks Raj to answer two questions to approximation the cost of directing surveys: (1) How many surveys do we need? In addition, (2) once we have the data, how do we analyze it? Though Raj is an expert in architectural issues, he is still learning about data and research design. He pursues information from a previous associate, Sarah, who is has knowledge in data and study methods.  This takes the quantitative approach to study the behaviors. The study is to collect the data about statistics and research design. What are the specific situations choose to use a inferential instruments and designs.        With inferential data, researchers are trying to reach assumptions that spread further than the instant information alone. For example, they use inferential statistics to try to conclude from the information that the people might think. Otherwise, we use inferential statistics to make rulings of the likelihood that an experiential modification between the groups is a reliable on one or another that they might have occurred by accidental in this study. Therefore, we use inferential statistics to make these inferences from our data to conditions.. We use descriptive statistics simply to describe what is going on in our data.  [pic 2][pic 1]        Now, thinking on inferential statistics that is useful in experiments and empirical research project or assessments.  Maybe, one of the simplest inferential tests are used when you want to associate usual routines of groups on a lonely part to see if there is a difference. For example is you might want to know fifth grade boys and girls vary in math test as another example of  testing a hypothesis.         Research plays important roles in product development. Data from quantitative research:  such as market size, surroundings, and preferences that delivers significant data for corporate choices. A qualitative study provides valued information for use in the planning of the product, which includes information to other user needs, and other cases. Each of these methods has assets and strengths, and can help combining them with another.
