ENVIRONMENTAL EVENT: THE FISH DEATHS IN VIETNAM SUMMARY        On April, 2016, a lot of fishes died in four provinces in central Vietnam, including Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. This disaster attracted many attentions from people around the world. The cause of the catastrophe remained unknown at that time though it was widely speculated that a steel plant built by the Taiwanese corporation Formosa Plastics was the main reason. However, on June 30, the government claimed that Formosa was responsible for this event. So, it can be clearly seen that the toxic chemical pollutants such as xyanua and phenol that Formosa spilt into the sea are the causes of the fish deaths in Vietnam.There are many bad effects when this disaster happened. Firstly, this environmental event affects the development of Vietnam economy. The number of tourists who came to the Middle of Vietnam decreased rapidly. Thousands of fishermen lost their job, money because they can’t catch, sell the fish or produce anything made from fish .Our country can’t export seafood in that area to other countries. As a result, our economy had a lot of difficulties. Secondly, the health of people in polluted area was in danger. Since people ate the toxic fishes and seafood, they died of cancer or dangerous diseases. Moreover, there was also a negative effect on politics because many people demonstrated on the street every Saturday and Sunday in some provinces in Vietnam to reveal the truth about the cause of this event. Finally, the environment got a lot of troubles. Dead fish decomposition caused water pollution. Then, polluted water evaporated and caused air pollution. It also had bad influences on the marine life and other animals near the sea as they live in polluted area and might eat dead fish.Group members:
