Procrastination, the art of wasting time, can be the thing that makes us or breaks us as students at The College of The Bahamas. An example of procrastination and be doing an assignment a day before it is do although you had it for a month. We all struggle with procrastination, including you: the reader and myself. There are many reasons out there that leads to us procrastinating, and some of them may relate to you. “I don’t feel like doing this”. A phrase commonly used by college students. The lack of interest plays a role in procrastination. All students from time to time lack interest in school work. This lack is a commonly given reason for not attending to an unpleasant task. Most students are nonchalant when it comes to doing a task even when it is due the next day. Students sometimes know that they have nothing to do besides their work but choose to lounge around, watch TV or sleep. Just don’t get used to doing this. These task of doing work is often seen as unpleasant and less than exciting. To believe that you must feel motivated in order to begin a task has the order of events in reverse. Starting a task is the real motivator, rather than, motivation needing to be present prior to beginning the task. Often just taking the first step, regardless of how small, can serve as an inducement and thus a motivator for further action.
