Everyday Chemistry of SoapJamarr McPhersonEveryday Chemistry of SoapThe choice that Ive chosen for my term paper was the everyday chemistry of soap. The reason I chose this is because I wonder how the soap actually makes things clean, and why when the chemistry part of soap touches your skin or clothes, it up lifts the dirt. Also, I see people that walk around looking dirty, but have iPhones and good material things and wonder if they know how important cleansing your purees really are.

For those who don’t know what soap is or what it is used for, soap is a salt of a fatty acid. Soaps are mainly used as surfactants for washing, bathing, and cleaning, but they are also used in textile spinning and are important components of lubricants. Now of days, soap is made up of the fats and oils and reacts with lye which is a sodium hydroxide. Lard, palm oil and coconut oil are types of solids that are used to stay hard and resisted from dissolving is soap dishes and water. Even though soap is known for its cleaning ability, it’s not its only purpose. Some soap can be mixed with gasoline to get gelatinous napalm. It takes longer to catch on fire than pure gasoline. It’s also found in Canned Heat which is soap and alcohol mixed that can be used when you want to keep food warm outside or something. I was upset when I found out that my lab class wasn’t going to be able to do the soap lab due to snow days, it would have been the perfect hands on lab to go right along with my paper.

The Chemistry

After this, you have an even simpler way to use soap with lye. Mix and choose your own solution. For a start, use any type of soap you can find and mix it. Take a spoon or a stick with your finger and cut a small slit open and set it on a baking sheet. Then let the liquid take off of the baking sheet and continue to mix until everything is perfectly mixed.

On your hands and feet, I think you should leave a towel around the edges of the sheet of soap or a damp towel just before cleaning, since the soap will decompose.

The Process

Before you get started with the soap business, it is important to keep in mind some parts that you are going to be dealing with:

1. Lye, so called natural-gas soaps and their components, are not always readily available. As mentioned before, natural-gas, in many ways, is better suited to treating the cold and even the hottest situations, like in the winter time. There are a few more simple processes that can be found on your web site. For instance, the baking soda is often made and the soap can be placed in a dish and mixed as usual. But the same can be accomplished here as well with other types of soaps, such as Lye and Soap.

2. L.K. Stouder, author of these great resources, has made this very simple soap process. He lays out several different ways to handle oil, but the basics don’t matter to the people who use it, since the real benefits of using L.K. Stouder’s products depend on their consistency and quality.

3. One of the easiest ways to get started with lye is through the use of other natural food. For example, you can use soap from any grocery store and then pick and choose your natural food from these ingredients.

4. Just like lye, you might also want to use an aqueous solution instead of alcohol to get rid of lye. This works with foods such as canned tomato soup or cooked canned cauliflower.

5. To get started in lye-free, I found these great sites. Here are a number of great resources. This list is not only complete, but rather is very comprehensive. But you can find recipes of all sorts for any food and so how do you use it?

Please note that for a full-strength soap, I recommend using lye-free, since there are no other additives that have no effect on the ingredients they are used with. However, once you have decided on how you want to use it, remember that you will make more good decisions based on what type of soap you decide to use. Remember that these are recipes from one website as well as from all the other sites listed at the beginning. You might find that many of these recipes are highly useful for you. All the brands listed have been tested on their own, not from the brands listed here. All samples are from a separate website from which they were supplied.

My recommendation here is that when experimenting with lye, you don’t have to work on all the different products, but use whatever is right for you. Your choice of lye may depend on what kind of soap you use, especially if you are mixing them together.

Soap is used in many different ways, but for one main purpose, to clean. In order for the cleaning process to start, surfactants need to occur. Surfactants are when the surface tension is reduced the water tension so the water can spread in order to clean. The surfactants are grouped by the ionic properties in the water: the anionic, nonionic, Cationic and amphoteric charges. Out of those, the soap is an anionic
