The dissection of the fetal pig in the laboratory is important because pigs and humans have the same level of metabolism and have similar organs and systems. Also, fetal pigs are relatively inexpensive.

Our pig was 13 inches long and measured from its nose to the it’s tail. I broke both of its arms and legs when I put it on it’s back to pin it down because that was the only way it would work. While on it’s back the pig had several nipples and the stomach was a grayish whitish color. The pig also had little white hairs all over it’s body. We had to break the pigs mouth to look in the throat. Before we broke the jaw the tongue was hanging out and it had very little sharp teeth. The tongue had little white taste buds all over it. And the eyes were rolled back in it’s head and they were glassy looking. The ears were pinned to his head and hard to move. It’s nasal passages were open and very skinny, easy to look at! The neck wasn’t easy to move at all. Our tail was somewhat broken off cause it was very flimsy and easy to move. The toenails on the pig weren’t hard at all. Kind of smooth and soft somewhat. The legs and feet were tough to move. The have a forward appearance. While the front ones are regular.

After we pinned down the pig on it’s back, we tied it with pink string and had a hard time keeping it down because the legs would not stay pinned down even though they were broken. The pig was very tough. We cut the pig from it’s throat down to it’s private and ours was a girl. Then
